Ask just about anyone who belongs to the IEFOA, and they will tell you they love the game. Press them further, and they will probably tell you they enjoy the camaraderie just as much - if not more. That is why we are actively seeking men and women who love the game just as much as we do to join our ranks and serve our communities.
In an attempt to enhance recruiting and retention, WIAA and WOA have jointly approved a substantial game fee increase of $20.00 per game per official with the increase being phased in over the next 3 school years.
WIAA and WOA agreed that these game fee increases will go directly and timely (through the recent implementation of ArbiterPay) into officials pockets. None of the money being allocated by WIAA schools will be used to increase administration fees at local or WOA levels.
For the March 26 game at West Valley HS, I (Chuck Latimer) was able to assign an all transfer crew -- all new to IEFOA for this spring -- with well over 80 years of experience cumulatively. It is unprecedented for us to get five transfers with so much experience.
All these guys have earned playoff games at various levels, and IEFOA is extremely lucky to have had them join us for the 2020-21 School Year and our spring football season.

A 40-second play clock will probably be the most notable, and most difficult, changes to high school football in 2019. The NFHS adopted the new timing rules during its committee meeting in January. That means, starting this season, teams and officials will have to get used to a new pace of play - and so will clock operators!
