Spring 2021 Arbiter Pay and COVID FAQs

1.     Pay stuff

a.     You need to go into eligibility center before the season starts and agree to let WOA take money from your account.

b. For all school games you will be paid the NEXT DAY via ArbiterPay.  You need to set up an ArbiterPay account.  There are several options for getting your money out of ArbiterPay.

c. Dues are deducted by WOA at the beginning of the season $65 per school year + $30 per sport – this will automatically be deducted out of the first couple game fees

d. There will not be an IEFOA deduction from school games – there will be an IEFOA deduction from non school games

e. At the end of the game the Referee needs to complete the Game Report in Arbiter.  Only the R can do this so remind them.  Enter the score of the game and enter carpool info into the comments if there was a carpool.  If it is not done before midnight everyone loses a dollar.  Do not put any other info into the game comments.

f.      Travel – default is that every individual gets paid an equal travel fee ($18 in town)– you can choose to say you carpooled on the game report and driver will get more ($8 per official) and others will get less ($10 each)

g.     Cancellations – no agreement today, but working on an agreement for an appropriate notice and if cancelled inside that notice you would still get paid.

2.     Covid stuff

a.     Basically treat all games like a subvarsity game

i.     Driving – no state guidance – realize all are getting some payment to drive – each individual makes their own decision

ii.     Bring your own food and drink

iii.     Locker rooms – not for us – but they must allow you to use a restroom

iv.     Pregames – in the parking lot

v.     Take a small cooler or bag of water bottles out to field – put by goal post so you have something to drink at halftime.

vi.     Halftime – stay out on the field

b.     Coach meeting – no shaking hands – 6 feet apart.  Discuss the length of halftime with the coach

c.      Coin toss – no hand shakes - 1 player from each team

d.     Time outs – middle of field between the 9s from 10 to 10.  We will assume they are 2 minutes unless told – after scores and between quarters can be 2 also

e.     Players and coaches can be from the 10 to the 10

f.      During game – mask entire game – black is encouraged for varsity, even when blowing whistle – stay 6 feet from everyone all game

g.     After game – no handshakes

h.     There are no 5th quarters for Varsity, if asked you should say no

i.       There could be a Mini JV game before or after a varsity game – it will be in Arbiter if it is happening.  It can not be held if it was not in Arbiter.

2.     Alternates – we may send alternates to sub varsity games or varsity games where we don’t normally send them so that they can get experience

3.     There will be no game by game nor end of year ratings for the spring season.

4.     Season length

a.     First varsity game: Feb 19
